Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Agdz (5-hour drive)
5 Day Morocco Desert Adventure Your adventure begins at 9:00 AM, when your driver picks you up from your accommodation. Depart Marrakech and traverse the breathtaking Atlas Mountains, following one of Morocco’s most scenic and winding roads. Reach the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,200m) before venturing into the Great South.
Take a detour to Telouet, where you’ll visit the ruins of the Pasha’s Palace and the ancient salt mines. Continue through the dramatic Ounila Valley, passing by remote Berber villages and troglodyte grottos.
Stop to explore the UNESCO-listed Ait Benhaddou, an ancient ksar (fortified village) famous for its cinematic history. Then, drive through Ouarzazate, cross rugged gorges, and ascend to 1,700m, where the panoramic view of the Draa Valley unfolds before you.
Arrive in Agdz and visit the Ksar of Tamnougalt and the Black People’s Village, known for its rich cultural heritage. Check into a traditional Kasbah hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Agdz – Zagora – Tamegroute – M’hamid – Erg Chigaga (4-hour drive)
After breakfast, take an off-road journey to the prehistoric rock engravings of Foum Chenna before heading to Zagora. Visit the nearby Amezrou Village, known for its Jewish heritage, adobe synagogue, and silver jewelry craft.
Continue to Tamegroute, home to the emerald-glazed pottery workshops and the Nassiriya Library, which houses a 10-century-old gold-engraved Quran and rare manuscripts on astronomy, medicine, and poetry.

In the evening, trade your 4WD for camels, riding up the dunes to witness a breathtaking sunset. Enjoy dinner under the desert sky, followed by traditional Berber music around a campfire. Overnight at the Sahara camp once again.
Day 4: Erg Chigaga – Foum Zguid – Tazenakht – Taroudant (6-hour drive)
Rise early to admire the magical sunrise over the dunes and take a morning stroll through the desert.
Continue your journey across the Hamada (rocky desert), passing through the dry lake of Iriki, once an important water source for nomads. Visit a local nomadic family, sip tea in their traditional tent, and hunt for fossils embedded in the landscape.
Reach Foum Zguid and return to paved roads. Enjoy a leisurely lunch by the pool at Bab Rimal or opt for a local specialty like kefta.
Drive east to Tazenakht, a town famed for its handwoven Berber carpets. Stop for panoramic views before continuing to the historic city of Taroudant, often referred to as the “Grandmother of Marrakech” for its fortified walls and bustling souks.
Check into a luxury riad outside of Taroudant for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Taroudant – Agadir – Marrakech
After breakfast, explore Taroudant with a calèche (horse-drawn carriage) ride around the city walls or browse the souks for the finest Argan oil and honey in Morocco.
Decide how to spend the rest of the day—either continue exploring or head back early to Marrakech.
En route, stop in Agadir for a walk along the beach or enjoy a delicious seafood lunch. Then, take the highway back to Marrakech, where your driver will drop you off at your accommodation.
